Photo exhibition of Giovanni Hänninen, from the book Milano Downtown. Azione pubblica e luoghi dell’abitare by Massimo Bricocoli and Paola Savoldi, et al./EDIZIONI
The book results from a research which was funded by the French Ministry for Urban and Regional Planning, the exhibition is organised with the support of the Faculty of Architecture and Society of the Politecnico di Milano.
The exhibition illustrates, through a photo reportage and texts and extracts from the book, the sites and places explored by the authors: the new large-scale urban development of Santa Giulia, the Pompeo Leoni residential development, the Gratosoglio public housing estate, the dense inner city neighbourhoods of Canonica-Sarpi and via Padova.
The survey is of extreme interest for the current debate on urban and social change in Milano and display the joint contribution of different disciplines: photograpt, urban planning, social and political sciences, offering an innovative contribution to the debate on the current and future development of the European city.
Massimo Bricocoli and Paola Savoldi are researchers in Urban and Regional Planning at the Department of Architecture and Planning at Politecnico di Milano.
