In case of loss are the four words printed on the front page of each Moleskine. They refer to the possibility of losing something and of finding it again.
The installation consists of 365 Moleskines grafted with the seeds of the juicy pomegranates grown in the private garden of the artist Silvia Del Grosso. She has patiently entered the seeds through the pages of the agendas, one seed for each day of the year.

“One autumn day in 2013, I happened to learn from a Moleskine employee that every year, after the first few months, unsold diaries are returned by bookshops and subsequently sent for pulping.
This news, which initially moved me, took root in me so much that I asked the company if I could have those notebooks that no one had bought, before they were destroyed.
Partly to save them, partly to own them.
I wanted to adopt those containers of unused marks, ideas and spaces. Uncut and free volumes, closed and at the same time open to infinite possibilities.

I redeemed the diaries so that I could continue to lose myself and find myself in every suspended idea that I will not feel lost as long as I can preserve it, in a seed, in an endless duration.
To try to expand time, I wished that every day could last 365 days.
On 31 December 2014, I walked over the diaries placed on the soapstone floor of the reception hall of Palazzo Salis in Chiavenna, retracing my year backwards, celebrating it.
Under my weight, I felt the seeds release their juice onto the paper.”
