“Ascolto is like an imaginary exhibition: at first everything is in darkness; then, when you open your eyes and begin to see, you ask yourself what it was.”

With L’ascolto, Giulio Lacchini presents an imaginary exhibition within the spaces of Assab One, offering a selection of works featured in the book of the same title.
“An imaginary exhibition emerges from within and moves outward toward art,” the artist explains. “In a world shaped by increasingly fast-paced technologies, we experience a growing distance—between ourselves and others, between intention and perception. I wanted to observe and listen to this process, to understand what happens to the imagination today, when images are multiple and layered with shifting meanings.

In this context, imagination becomes a site of resonance, where sound takes on form and visibility—either through the objects from which it originates, or through the mental images it evokes. The exhibition thus becomes an open field of perception, where listening is both a gesture and a gaze”.
