The book brings together twelve international versions of verses taken from the Canto V of Homer’s Odyssey, submitted participants of the project in their mother tongue.

The 12 videos that document the twelve readings were filmed in Milan in via Padova and the surrounding neighbourhood between November 2010 and April 2011.

Biography

Tutamondo is an artists’ collective founded in 2008 by Francesca Marconi and Alessia Bernardini. The collective organises research activities and artistic events across Milan, particularly in the Viale Monza/Viale Padova neighbourhood.

The primary approach is to create workshops that involve local residents; permanent and itinerant laboratories of photography, drawing, contemplation, maps and suggestions. The labs are aimed at creating a visual project that can serve as a poetic reading and a testimony that is open, vibrant and experiential. Elaborating a project implies stepping over a threshold and venturing into the land of meaning, of ethical and poetical intentions.
The aim is to capture the changes taking place in a neighbourhood in order to stimulate thoughts on life and on the art world, which in turn act as a tool for encouraging the coming together and transformation of dynamics between residents of a building, a neighbourhood, a city.
